Fotheringhay Church is quickly becoming my most popular wedding venue. I’ve said many times before that Fotheringhay itself is arguable one of the prettiest villages in the UK and the church is simply stunning as well as a great venue to work at. Brian the vicar is well known to me now and is also arguable one of the nicest vicars you could possibly ask to perform your wedding ceremony. If you are in the know you’ll be aware that he’s also an extremely good mechanic. Local villagers seeking to avoid expensive servicing bills often drop their motor off at the vicarage!
Jordan is a professional photographer so I was extremely flattered that he’d chosen me to photograph his and Naomi’s wedding. This did place a little extra pressure on me but both Jordan and Naomi were very complimentary about my work and so I knew I just had to follow my normal approach and all being well I’d be providing them with a fantastic portfolio which they would be over the moon with. There’s nothing like a little extra nervous tension before a wedding to switch you on and focus the mind!
It was really nice to return to the Castle Farm guest house and see all the improvements they’d made since my last visit 2 years ago. The gardens were always beautiful and perfect for a english summer wedding with excellent lawns for marques. Inside the house the bridal suite was a clutter of plaster board and tools the last time I was here but now you can see all the rooms and the gardens on the Castle Farm website. Luckily the rain held off all day and although it was extremely windy at times I think we got away lightly considering the way it’s been just lately. This month has got to be the wettest June I can remember and I’ve certainly had a lot of practice lately in shooting in wet weather conditions.
I wish Jordan & Naomi a great start to their marriage and a long and happy future together. I hope to be photographing another wedding in Fotheringhay soon. And as my MOT is due maybe I’ll get the car around to the vicarage.
